| 몬주익 정원 [Montjuic Garden] [위치] 스페인 카탈루냐 바르셀로나 [가격] 무료 [분류] 공원·정원, 자연 절경, 도심 [저자] 엘리노어 파크먼 하르딘스 데 모센 코스타 이 요베라는 바르 셀로나의 화려하고 쿨한 분위기와 완벽하 게 어울리면서도, 한편으로는 가우디의 환 상적인 고층 건축물들을 모두 둘러보느라 다소 지쳐버린 관광객들에게 신선한 공기 를 선사하는 곳이다. 도시를 뒤로 하고 걸 어서, 혹은 케이블카를 타고 몬주익 언덕 을 오르면 바르셀로나 항구를 내려다보는 언덕 옆구리, 미라마르 전망대 입구에 선인 장 정원들이 모습을 드러낸다. 이 정원들은 건축가 호아킴 카사마호르 이 데스포나의 작품이다. 호셉 파네요가 선인 장을 심었으며, 마요르카 출신의 시인 미 켈 코스타 이 요베라에게 헌정되었다. 정 원 안에는 코스타 이 요베라의 대표작인 < 포르멘토르의 소나무>에 바치는 기념비도 있다. 케냐, 에티오피아, 멕시코 등 여러 나라에서 들여온 200종이 넘는 선인장과 그 밖의 다육식물이 자라고 있으며, 개중에 는 키가 6m가 넘는 것도 있다. 또 12종이 넘는 다양한 소나무가 자라고 있어 방문객 들에게 반가운 그늘을 만들어 준다. 이 정원에 있는 가장 오래된 선인장은 사자 금으로, "안데스의 노인"이라는 별칭으로 도 불린다. 이탈리아에서 들여온 것으로 연 령이 200살이 넘는다. 스페인의 태양이 뿜 어내는 열기 속에서 환상적인 그림자를 만 들어내는 몬주익의 선인장들은 마치 다른 세상에 와 있는 것 같은 착각을 일으킨다. ============================== 몬주이크(Montjuic)는 스페인 바르셀로나 에 있는 언덕이다. -------------------------------- 몬주익 언덕 [Montjuic Hill] [주소] Parc de Montjuïc, Barcelona [가는방법] 지하철 1·3호선 Espanya 역 하차 후 에스 파냐 광장(Pl.d Espanya)에서 버스 50·55 번 이용, 또는 지하철 3호선 Paral-lel 역 과 연결되는 푸니쿨라 승강장에서 몬주익 공원으로 가는 푸니쿨라 이용 몬주익 언덕(Montjuic)은 바르셀로나 서부 에 위치한다. 고도 213m로 도시 전경을 감 상할 수 있는 곳이다. 지하철 역과 몬주익 을 잇는 케이블카 푸니쿨라(Funicular)에 서 바라보는 전망이 장관이다. 올림픽 주경 기장, 갤러리, 박물관, 야외극장 등 다양 한 문화시설이 마련되어 있다. 각종 흥미로 운 행사를 관람할 수 있다. 밤에는 마드리 드 스페인 광장의 음악분수대에서 화려한 레이저 쇼가 펼쳐진다. [Etymology] Montjuic is translated as "Jew Mountain" in medieval Catalan[citation needed], or is perhaps related to the Latin phrase Mons Jovicus ('hill of Jove'). Location of the same name is also found in the city of Girona. When written in a Spanish rather than Catalan context it is generally spelled Montjuich (this is old Catalan spelling before the orthographic reforms of Pompeu Fabra). [Description] Barcelona's Montjuic is a broad shallow hill with a relatively flat top overlooking the harbour, to the southwest of the city centre. The eastern side of the hill is almost a sheer cliff, giving it a commanding view over the city's harbour immediately below. The top of the hill (a height of 184,8 m) was the site of several fortifications, the latest of which (the Castle of Montjuïc) remains today. The fortress largely dates from the 17th century, with 18th-century additions. In 1842, the garrison (loyal to the Madrid government) shelled parts of the city. It served as a prison, often holding political prisoners, until the time of General Franco. The castle was also the site of numerous executions. In 1897, an incident popularly known as Els processos de Montjuïc prompted the execution of anarchist supporters, which then led to a severe repression of the workers' struggle for their rights. On different occasions during the Spanish Civil War, both Nationalists and Republicans were executed there, each at the time when the site was held by their opponents.
